They have led groundbreaking research in the field of cardiology, coached a Division 1 program to the NCAA Tournament, tested the first artificial heart valve in humans, traveled with the national tour of Cats and Wicked, and won the Nobel Peace Prize.

For more than 166 years, Rockford graduates have made their mark around the world. Far more than preparing students to do something, we empower our graduates to accomplish anything.

Lexie Collins Named Regent of the Week

Sophomore Lexie Collins (Earlville, Ill.) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending October 2, 2016. Collins led the Regents to a 1-1 record last week scoring 5 goals and tallying 1 assist. In Rockford's first match she scored 4 goals and had 1 assist in a 7-2 win at Eureka College. She then wrapped up her week by scoring the Regents' only goal in Saturday's match at Mount Mary.

Liberty Hartman Named Regent of the Week

Senior Liberty Hartman (Freeport, Ill.) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending September 25, 2016. Hartman recorded a pair of double-doubles on back-to-back nights last week for the Regents. She opened with 21 kills, 11 digs and 4 totals blocks against Concordia Chicago and followed that up with 19 kills, 11 digs, 2 aces and 1 block against Knox. For the week she averaged an impressive 5.00 kills per set with a .305 hitting percentage.

Anders-James Wermuth Named Regent of the Week

Sophomore Anders-James Wermuth (Spring Green, Wis.) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending September 18, 2016. Wermuth helped lead the RU men's soccer team to the Regents first win in their NACC opener since the 2008 season. He tallied three shots, all of them on goal, including scoring the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the 82nd minute to complete the 2-1 comeback victory.

Fourteen Regents Named to the NACC All-Sportsmanship Team

Fourteen Regents were honored by the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference for their conduct and sportsmanship during competition in the 2015-16 season. Each member of the team was selected by his or her respective coach for embracing the NCAA and NACC principles of sportsmanship and fair play.

Joseph Valdez Named to the NACC All-Freshman Team

The Rockford University baseball team had a pair of players recognized by the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference on Thursday morning when it released its 2016 all-conference teams. Freshman pitcher Joseph Valdez (Tucson, Ariz.) capped off an impressive season by being named to the NACC All-Freshman Team. This marks the first time Valdez has earned postseason recognition from the NACC.

Senior outfielder Evan Frantini (Coal City, Ill.) raked in the highest honor as he was selected First Team All-NACC.

The Phi Beta Kappa Chapter at Rockford University (Eta of Illinois) was established in 1953, during the tenure of President Mary Ashby Cheek. Each year since that time, the chapter inducts a select few of its graduating seniors into the Society. These students have excelled academically in their chosen major and in a broad course of study emphasizing the liberal arts.

Lincoln Laureate

The Lincoln Academy of Illinois "recognizes outstanding contributions made by living Illinois citizens toward the social, cultural, and technological progress of mankind and thereby to encourage greater dedication to such progress by all citizens of Illinois", in the form of a Lincoln Laureate Award. This award is given to college seniors who demonstrate excellence in curricular and extracurricular activities.

Awarded through a trust distribution in memory of Dr. Edward Mill, Chair of the Political Science department from 1955-59, this scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of need and outstanding academic achievement to a junior or senior majoring in political science.

Established in 2004 by Helena Milman, class of 1997. Selected by the chairman of the Department of Political Science, in consultation with the History and Philosophy Department chairs, the award goes to a student who has completed both junior and senior years at Rockford University and who has demonstrated extraordinary interest in the theory and the practice of politics.

Marion Carlson Seedoff Memorial Award for Primary Grade Elementary Education

Marion Carlson Seedoff, Class of 1962, and many of her family members graduated from Rockford College. Marion taught in the Rockford Public Schools for more than 10 years. The Marion Carlson Seedoff Memorial Award, given to an outstanding junior or senior in elementary education, is granted to encourage a student with an interest in the primary grades to enter the teaching field.

Delman Prize in Anthropology/Sociology

Named for Professor Emerita Dorothy Delman, renowned professor of sociology and 1942 graduate of Rockford College, who passed away in 2007. The prize is based on the outstanding academic performance of any full- or part-time student who has completed 30 hours in the study of anthropology and sociology.

Shirl Shanhouse Morris Prize in Sociology

Established in 1991, The Shirl Shanhouse Morris Prize in Sociology is funded by Mrs. Morris' husband, Raymond F. Morris, and her children, to honor the 1941 Rockford College alumna. The prize is awarded to an outstanding student majoring in sociology.
