Rockford University graduates aren't like everyone else. In fact, our alumni are pretty amazing. They have led groundbreaking research in the field of cardiology, coached a Division 1 program to the NCAA Tournament, tested the first artificial heart valve in humans, traveled with the national tour of Cats and Wicked, and won the Nobel Peace Prize.

For more than 166 years, Rockford graduates have made their mark around the world. Far more than preparing students to do something, we empower our graduates to accomplish anything.

Regent of the Week

Junior guard John O'Bryan (Richmond, Ky.) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending November 30, 2014. O'Bryan scored 27 points for the second straight game last Saturday. The junior shot 57.1% from the field (8-of-14) and the three-point line (4-of-7) along with going a perfect 7-for-7 from the charity stripe. He also grabbed 4 rebounds, dished out 2 assists and blocked 1 shot to round out his afternoon.

Late Monday night the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference released its weekly awards, and senior linebacker Seth Swinehart (Rockford, Ill./East) was named NACC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his decorated career.

Kayla Kurz Named Second Team All-NACC

On Tuesday morning the Northern Athletics College Conference released its postseason awards and Rockford University junior Kayla Kurz (Franklin Grove, Ill./Ashton-Franklin Center) earned Second Team All-NACC honors. She becomes the first Rockford University volleyball player to be named second team all-conference since the 2009 season.

Regent of the Week

Senior Barbara Duffy (Prophetstown, Ill./Prophetstown) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending November 2, 2014. Duffy recorded her best ever finish at the NACC Championships on Saturday placing 12th in a field that featured 97 participants. The senior also set a new personal best in the 6k by over a minute when she completed the race in 23:46.5. For her efforts, Duffy was named All-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference for the third time in her career.

Regent of the Week

Freshman goalkeeper Kyle Adams (St. Louis, Mo./Timberland) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending October 26, 2014. Adams did an excellent job in goal on Saturday for the Regents. The freshman made 5 saves and allowed just one goal in over 94 minutes of play including pitching a shutout during regulation. Adams is currently second in the NACC with 116 saves this season and is just 2 saves behind the conference leader.

Haynes Named NACC Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week

ROCKFORD, Ill. - For the third week this season the Rockford University football program had a student-athlete recognized by the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. On Monday night, junior defensive back Reginald Haynes (Chicago, Ill./Prosser Career Academy) became the third Rockford player this season to be selected NACC Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week.

Junior defensive back Reginald Haynes (Chicago, Ill./Prosser Career Academy) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending October 19th, 2014. Haynes scored Rockford's only touchdown on Saturday with his 85-yard interception return for a td. The junior also broke up a pair of passes and made 4 tackles including three solo tackles and one tackle for loss.

ROCKFORD, Ill. - Senior Tim Lydy (Aurora, Ill./Germantown) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending October 12th, 2014. Lydy ran exceptionally well on Saturday finishing in 12th place and posting his fastest time of the year in the 8k. His time of 27:54.9 was nearly 20 seconds faster than his previous best this season and was just 7 seconds off his personal best.

Forward Callie Davis (Florissant, Mo./Hazelwood West) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending October 5th, 2014. Davis scored a goal in each of Rockford's two wins last week. For the week she recorded 9 shots with 5 of them on goal including the pair of goals.

ROCKFORD, Ill. - Junior Stephanie Tassone (Sandwich, Ill./Sandwich) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending September 28th, 2014. Tassone had the top individual finish of any Regent on Friday placing 170th. The junior continues to improve her time each week as she once again set a new season best mark crossing the finish line in 25:23.9.

Kaleb Rich Named NACC Men's Golfer of the Week

Late Monday night, Rockford senior Kaleb Rich (Washington, Iowa/Washington) was named NACC Men's Golf Student-Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Marian Fall Invite. Rich becomes only the second Regent golfer ever to earn a weekly award from the NACC and the first since 2008.

Jacob Gorsuch Named NACC Defensive Player of the Week

For the second consecutive week the Rockford University football program has had at least one player earn a weekly award from the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. This week it was senior safety Jacob Gorsuch (Rockford, Ill./Cherry Valley) who earned NACC Defensive Player of the Week Honors. The Regents are currently tied for the most NACC weekly awards this season (3) with Concordia University Wisconsin.

Regent of the Week

Junior Chrissy Hermann (Tinley Park, Ill./Tinley Park) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending September 21st, 2014. Hermann scored the game-winning goal in Rockford's 2-0 win over Faith Baptist Bible College last Friday. She currently leads the Regents with 2 goals this season.

Regent of the Week

Senior Kaleb Rich (Washington, Iowa/Washington) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending September 14th, 2014. Rich won the Marian University Fall Invite by 7 strokes with a two-day total of +1. The senior fired the two lowest rounds of the Invite with a 70 on Sunday and a 75 on Monday to become the first Regent to win a golf tournament since fall of 2008.

Senior Andrew Stochl (Fox Lake, Ill./Marian Central Catholic) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending September 7th, 2014. Stochl led Rockford to a win in its season opener and home opener for the first time since the 2006 season. The senior completed 17-of-27 passes for 291 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Regent of the Week

Senior Katelyn Hasken (Lanark, Ill./Eastland) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending August 31, 2014. Katelyn Hasken had a great start to her season over the weekend at the Beloit Buc Blast Tournament. Hasken had a pair of 20-kill matches to average just over 13 kills per match and 3.31 kills per set. Defensively the senior recorded 56 digs and 9 total blocks. For her efforts she was named to the all-tournament team.

Local students graduate at Rockford University's 160th Commencement Ceremony

Rockford University's 160th Commencement Ceremony, held on Sunday, May 18, awarded degrees in Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Science in Management Studies, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Arts in Teaching and Master of Business Administration to approximately 400 students.
