Brett Down Named Regent of the Week

Junior Brett Down (Princeville, Ill.) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending March 4, 2018. Down tallied a pair of multi-hit games for the Regents last week. He began by going 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored against Wheaton. Down then went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and three runs scored against Howard Payne University. For the week, Down tallied five hits, including three doubles, five runs scored, a .417 batting average, a .462 on-base percentage and a .667 slugging percentage

Kaylynne Terry Named Regent of the Week

Freshman Kaylynne Terry (Streator, Ill.) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending February 25, 2018. Terry was simply outstanding in her collegiate debut on Sunday. She began by becoming the first ever RU women's track and field athlete to win an event at the NACC Indoor Championships when she took first place in shot put and absolutely destroyed the Rockford University record in the process. Terry's throw of 13.30 meters was nearly 3.5 meters farther than the previous record of 9.85 meters. Additionally, her throw currently ranks as the 22nd farthest in all of NCAA Division III this season. Terry followed up her shot put performance with another excellent effort in the weight throw event. The Streator native placed seventh in the weight throw and broke her second school record of the day. Her throw of 13.39 meters was a full meter farther than the previous school record.

Trae Blumhorst Voted NACC Defensive Player of the Year

For the second straight year, the RU men's basketball program had a pair of players earn postseason recognition from the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. Junior forward Tony Diemer (Rockford, Ill.) was named First Team All-NACC, while senior Trae Blumhorst (Mendota, Ill.) was voted the NACC Defensive Player of the Year. This marks the third consecutive season Rockford has had at least one first team all-conference selection and the second straight season the Regents have had the conference's defensive player of the year.

Tony Diemer Voted First Team All-NACC

For the second straight year, the RU men's basketball program had a pair of players earn postseason recognition from the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. Junior forward Tony Diemer (Rockford, Ill.) was named First Team All-NACC, while senior Trae Blumhorst (Mendota, Ill.) was voted the NACC Defensive Player of the Year. This marks the third consecutive season Rockford has had at least one first team all-conference selection and the second straight season the Regents have had the conference's defensive player of the year.

Tyrece Ahrens Named Regent of the Week

Freshman Tyrece Ahrens (Kankakee, Ill.) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending February 18, 2018. Ahrens stole the show on Saturday with five top-10 finishes including winning one event and breaking a school record. Ahrens vanquished his competition in the long jump, winning the event with a distance of 6.20 meters. This marks the second time this season he has won the long jump, with the other coming back at the UW-Parkside Ranger Relays. The freshman also took fourth in the 400 meter race crossing the finish line in 52.16 seconds. His time in the 400 meter is currently the fourth fastest in the NACC this season. Ahrens then took sixth and broke the RU school record in the triple jump with a distance of 12.12 meters. His jump is currently the tenth longest in the conference this season. He wrapped up his day with a sixth place finish in the high jump and a seventh place finish in the 60 meter dash. Ahrens' distance of 1.69 meters in the high jump is a new personal best and is the ninth farthest in the NACC this year. His time of 7.23 seconds in the preliminaries of the 60 meter is a new personal best and 12th fastest so far this year in the conference.

Tony Diemer Nets NACC Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

Rockford University junior forward Tony Diemer (Rockford, Ill.) has been named NACC Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for his outstanding performance on the court a week ago. This marks the second time Diemer has earned conference player of the week honors in his career, with the other coming during his sophomore year. Diemer is also the first RU men's basketball player to be voted conference player of the week this season.

Tony Diemer Named Regent of the Week

Junior forward Tony Diemer (Rockford, Ill.) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending February 11, 2018. Diemer helped keep Rockford's NACC Tournament hopes alive this past week as he led the Regents to a pair of crucial conference wins. Diemer averaged 32.0 points on 57.4% shooting, 9.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals. He opened with a career-high 40 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists in Rockford's 93-73 win over Lakeland. Diemer then tallied 24 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists in the Regents' 85-77 victory over MSOE.

Kevin Diemer Named Regent of the Week

Freshman forward Kevin Diemer (Rockford, Ill.) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending February 4, 2018. Diemer nearly averaged a double-double last week for the Regents. His best performance came on Saturday when he scored a career-high 27 points on 10-of-18 shooting. He also tallied his sixth double-double of the season with 12 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. Diemer has now scored in double-digits in seven of the last eight games including posting five double-doubles during that span. For the week he averaged 17.5 points on 50.0% shooting, 9.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.5 steals.

Tony Diemer Named Regent of the Week

Junior forward Tony Diemer (Rockford, Ill.) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending January 28, 2018. Diemer scored his 1,000th career point and led the Regents to a 1-1 record in NACC play this past week. The Rockford native opened with 26 points on 61.1% shooting, 7 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. He then recorded 21 points on 53.3% shooting, 9 rebounds and 1 assist. For the week Diemer averaged 23.5 points on 57.6% shooting including going a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc, 8.0 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 0.5 steals.

Jonathan Ponce Cuiriz Named Regent of the Week

Junior thrower Jonathan Ponce Cuiriz (Kewanee, Ill.) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending January 21, 2018. Ponce Cuiriz had a career day for the Regents on Friday at the UW-Parkside Ranger Relays. He won the shot put with a personal best throw of 11.05 meters and took second in the weight throw with a personal best distance of 11.42 meters. His efforts in the shot put and weight throw events currently rank seventh and fifth respectively in the NACC this season.

Brandon Emerick Named Regent of the Week

Freshman guard Brandon Emerick (Elkhardt, Ind.) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending January 14, 2018. Emerick led Rockford to a 1-1 record in NACC play this past week. His best performance came in the Regents' 100-77 win on Saturday against Wisconsin Lutheran. Emerick poured in a game-high 24 points on 64.3% shooting from the floor including knocking down 6-of-10 three-point attempts. He also added 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block to his totals. For the week Emerick averaged 15.5 points on 50% shooting both from the floor and three-point range, 5.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals, 2.0 assists, 0.5 blocks.

Trae Blumhorst Named Regent of the Week

Senior forward Trae Blumhorst (Mendota, Ill.) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending December 7, 2018. Blumhorst nearly averaged a double-double this past week for Rockford. The senior began by recording his first double-double of the season with 25 points, 10 rebounds, 4 blocks and 3 steals against Marian. He then tallied 16 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 block on Saturday against Aurora. For the week Blumhorst averaged 20.5 points on 41.9% shooting, 9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.5 blocks and 1.5 steals.

Sammi Russell Named Regent of the Week

Freshman forward Sammi Russell (Winnebago, Ill.) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending December 31, 2017. Russell recorded her first collegiate double-double on Saturday as the Regents picked up their first NACC win of the season. She finished with a career-high 14 points on 66.7% shooting and a career-high 11 rebounds. Russell also added one steal to her totals.

Tajanae Key Named Regent of the Week

Senior guard Tajanae Key (Glendale Heights, Ill.) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending December 24, 2017. Key helped lead Rockford to its second win over its last four games. She tallied a career-high 18 rebounds, 5 points, 2 steals and 1 assist in the Regents' 43-34 win over Lasell. For the week Key averaged 5.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 0.5 blocks per game.

Nicole Silvers Named Regent of the Week

Junior guard Nicole Silvers (Byron, Ill.) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending December 17, 2017. Silvers led Rockford to its first win of the season this past week. The junior scored a team-high 15 points as she knocked down three of her six three point attempts to lead Rockford to a 57-54 win over Maranatha. She rounded out her day with 4 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists. For the week Silvers averaged 10.0 points, 2.5 steals, 2.0 rebounds and 2 assists.

Tony Diemer Named Regent of the Week

Junior forward Tony Diemer (Rockford, Ill.) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending December 10, 2017. Diemer turned in a pair of 20-point performances last week for the Regents. He opened with 25 points on 54.5% shooting, 5 rebounds and 2 assists against Benedictine. Diemer followed that up with 23 points on 47.1% shooting, 7 rebounds and 1 assist at MSOE. For the week he averaged 24.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists, while shooting 51.3% from the floor and 85.7% from the free throw line.

Trae Blumhorst Named Regent of the Week

Senior forward Trae Blumhorst (Mendota, Ill.) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending December 3, 2017. Blumhorst led Rockford to a perfect 2-0 record in NACC play last week. He began the week by narrowly missing his first double-double of the season in Rockford's overtime win over Edgewood. The senior finished with 15 points on 50.0% shooting, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block. He then capped off his week with a career-high 30 points on 80.0% shooting, 5 assists, 1 steal and 1 block to lead Rockford past Concordia Chicago. For the week Blumhorst averaged 22.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.0 block and 0.5 steal.

Dylan Peterson Named NACC Honorable Mention

Seven Rockford University football players received postseason recognition from the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference on Monday morning when the NACC released its 2017 all-conference awards. Running back Chance Manning (Durand, Ill.), offensive lineman Austin Miller (Washington, Ill.), tight end Adam Ambrogio (Rockford, Ill.) and punter Alexis Guteirrez (Amboy, Ill.) were each First Team All-NACC selections, while offensive lineman Brandon Bothem (Roscoe, Ill.), defensive lineman Jacob Cremeens (Roscoe, Ill.) and defensive back Dylan Peterson (Reynolds, Ill.) received NACC Honorable Mention status. Taylor Krocker Named Regent of the Week

Junior forward Taylor Krocker (Portage, Wis.) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending November 26, 2017. Krocker helped lead Rockford to a 1-0 start in NACC play this past week. In the Regents' win on Saturday over Wisconsin Lutheran, Krocker scored 15 points on 63.6% shooting, grabbed 7 rebounds, had 2 assists, blocked 1 shot and made 1 steal. For the week he averaged 16.0 points on 56.0% shooting, 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.5 blocks.

Tony Diemer Named Regent of the Week

Junior forward Tony Diemer (Rockford, Ill.) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending November 19, 2017. Diemer helped lead Rockford to a 2-1 start to its season last week. In the Regents' first game against Beloit, Diemer sealed the win with a clutch free throw with 5 seconds left to give Rockford a 4-point lead. For the week the junior averaged 12.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals, while shooting 43.2% from the floor.

Joe Werkheiser Named Regent of the Week

Junior Joe Werkheiser (Winnebago, Ill.) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending November 12, 2017. Werkheiser set a new personal best in the 8k by over a minute on Saturday at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional, crossing the finish line in 26:43.8. He also had the highest finish of any Regent placing 151st in a field of 254 total runners.

Jared Johnson Named Regent of the Week

Junior defensive lineman Jared Johnson (Miami, Fla.) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending November 5, 2017. Johnson led the Regents with a career-high 13 tackles on Saturday including 11 solo tackles. He also had 1 tackle for loss and forced a crucial fumble that led to at the time, the game-tying touchdown.

Giovana Ortega Named Regent of the Week

Senior midfielder Giovana Ortega (Rockford, Ill.) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending October 29, 2017. Ortega led the Regents to a 7-3 win in Rockford's final match of the season. The senior was involved in three of Rockford's goals, scoring two and assisting on another.

LaVar Johnson Jr. Named Regent of the Week

Freshman running back LaVar Johnson Jr. (Memphis, Tenn.) has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending October 22, 2017. Johnson led the RU rushing attack with his second straight 100-yard rushing performance on Saturday. The freshman carried the ball 20 times for 120 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns.
