Gretchen Schrubbe Named Regent of the Week
Junior second baseman Gretchen Schrubbe has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 28, 2021. Schrubbe had four multi-hit games and helped lead the Regents to a perfect 6-0 record last week. Her top two performances came against Lakeland and Eureka. Schrubbe went 4-for-5 with two doubles, four runs scored and an RBI in an 11-10 win over the Muskies. She also went 3-for-4 with a double and four runs batted in during a 16-2 victory against Eureka. For the week, Schrubbe had a .706 batting average, a .722 on-base percentage and a 1.235 slugging percentage. She tallied 12 hits, including five doubles and two triples, scored eight runs, drove in 11 runs and stole three bases.

Connor McNear Voted NACC Men's Volleyball Player of the Week
Rockford University freshman Connor McNear has been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Men's Volleyball Player of the Week. McNear becomes the first RU men's volleyball player in program history to earn a NACC Player of the Week award. Connor McNear helped lead Rockford to a 2-0 record in conference play and its first two-game NACC winning streak in program history. McNear tied for the match-high with 13 kills in Rockford's 3-1 win over Lakeland. He then had a season-high 14 kills, broke the RU single-match record with a .379 hitting percentage and tallied 2 blocks in a 3-2 upset road win over Marian. For the week, McNear recorded 27 kills to average 3.00 kills per set and had a .333 hitting percentage. The RU men's volleyball team looks for its third straight win on Tuesday, March 23 when the Regents host Wisconsin Lutheran College at 7 PM in the Seaver Center.

James Davenport Named Regent of the Week
Junior James Davenport has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 21, 2021. Davenport helped Rockford win consecutive matches and consecutive NACC matches for the first time in program history this past week. He opened with 8 kills, a season-high 12 digs, 4 assists and 1 block in the Regents' 3-1 victory over Lakeland University. He then broke the RU record for kills in a match and recorded his first double-double of the season in Rockford's 3-2 upset win over Marian. Davenport finished the match with 18 kills, a .378 hitting percentage, a new season-high 13 digs, 2 assists and 1 block.

Neve Yerk Named NACC South Division Honorable Mention
The RU women's basketball team had a pair of players recognized on Friday morning when the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference announced its 2020-21 All-NACC Teams. Naynay Clark was named NACC South Division Honorable Mention in her first season as a Regent, and Neve Yerk was selected NACC South Division Honorable Mention for the first time in her career. This marks the first time that Rockford has had multiple individuals receive postseason awards from the NACC in a year since the 2016-17 season. Neve Yerk was selected NACC South Division Honorable Mention for the first time as a Regent. Yerk finished the year as the Regents' top rebounder and was a force on the defensive end of the floor. Yerk led Rockford in rebounds per game (7.0), defensive rebounds per game (5.4), blocks per game (1.8) and steals per game (1.4). She also chipped in 5.0 points per game and 1.6 offensive rebounds per game. Yerk's best performance of the year also came against Dominican when she scored a season-high 13 points, had 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks and 3 steals.

Kevin Diemer highlighted the group with his NACC South Division Player of the Year selection. Diemer becomes the first RU men's basketball player to ever be named the NACC South Division Player of the Year. Head Coach Jeremy Reigle was voted the NACC South Division Coach of the Year. Reigle is now just the second Regent men's basketball coach (Rebsom, 2009) to receive a NACC Coach of the Year honor. Brandon Emerick earned First Team All-NACC South Division honors for the second straight season. This marks only the second time in program history that a player has received First Team All-NACC honors twice in his career (Tony Diemer). De'Marius Bonds was the final Regent recognized by the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, as he was named NACC Honorable Mention. Rockford's four NACC postseason awards is tied for the most in a season in program history (2015-16). Kevin Diemer concluded one of the most decorated season's in program history by being named NACC South Division Player of the Year and First Team All-NACC South Division. Diemer was dominant throughout the entire season. He earned a school record four straight NACC Player of the Week honors and was also named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week. He finished his season ranked in the top 30 nationally in six categories and was in the top five in the NACC in four others. Diemer is fifth in Division III in double-doubles (7), 13th in total rebounds (137), 15th in made field goals (107), 25th in total points (273), 28th in defensive rebounds per game (7.5) and 29th in free throw attempts (72). Additionally, he finished the year first in the NACC in rebounds per game (9.8), third in points per game (19.5), fourth in offensive rebounds per game (2.3) and fifth in field goal percentage (59.8%). Diemer also eclipsed a milestone this year when he became just the 17th RU men's basketball player to record 500 rebounds in a career.

Additionally, Emerick finished the season ranked third in the NACC in steals per game (2.1), fourth in assists per game (4.2) and sixth in made three-point field goals per game (2.4). Emerick also eclipsed two milestones this season when he became just the 25th player in program history to score 1,000 points and broke the RU record for steals in a career (190).

He finished the season third on the team in scoring (10.4 ppg), third in three-point field goal percentage (40.0%), fifth in rebounding (3.4 rpg) and sixth in assists (1.2 apg). Additionally, Bonds concluded the year ranked third in the NACC in field goal percentage (40.0%). Bonds' top performance of the season came in Rockford's 96-79 win against Aurora. He finished with a season-high 21 points on 81.8% shooting, 7 rebounds and 1 assist.

Christian Pearcy Voted NACC South Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Rockford University starting pitcher Christian Pearcy earned his first weekly award of the season when it was announced Wednesday morning that he has been selected as the NACC South Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week. This is the first time Pearcy has received an award from the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference in his career and is also the RU baseball program's first weekly award of the season. Christian Pearcy threw his first complete game as a Regent and moved to 1-0 this year in Rockford's 12-1 win against Eureka last Friday. He scattered five hits and allowed just one run over his seven innings of work, while striking out ten. The Rockford University baseball team returns to the diamond on Friday, March 19 for a single game at Carroll University. First pitch is set for 3:00 PM.

Brandon Emerick Earns D3hoops.com and NACC Weekly Honors
Rockford University senior guard Brandon Emerick earned his first two weekly awards of the season on Tuesday when he was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week and voted the NACC Men's Basketball South Division Player of the Week. This is Emerick's first career D3hoops.com Team of the Week selection and his second NACC Player of the Week honor, with the other coming back in December, 2019. He also becomes the second Regent this season (Kevin Diemer) and just the eighth RU men's basketball player to ever earn a spot on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week. Additionally, this marks the fifth straight week that a member of the Rockford University men's basketball team has been selected as the NACC South Division Player of the Week. Brandon Emerick averaged 27.5 points on 56.3% shooting, 6.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1 block to help Rockford capture the NACC South Division Tournament Title. Emerick opened with 21 points on 52.9% shooting, 4 assists, 3 rebounds and 1 block in the Regents' semifinal win over Concordia Chicago. He then poured in a career-high 34 points on 60% shooting, including making 9 three-pointers and going a perfect 7-for-7 at the free throw line. Emerick also had 9 assists, 6 rebounds, 3 steals and 1 block in a 97-91 win over Aurora in the NACC South Division Tournament Final. Diemer is now the first Regent to ever receive four NACC weekly awards in the same season. He also becomes only the fifth Regent (Robert Malone, Tony Diemer, Chad Zeman and Genesis Cerrato) to ever earn four NACC weekly awards in a single sport in their career. Kevin Diemer recorded a double-double in both games to average a double-double for the third consecutive week and help Rockford capture a share of the NACC South Division Championship and the top seed in the conference tournament. Diemer opened with a game-high 18 points on 80% shooting, 12 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block in Rockford's 73-66 win at Benedictine. On Saturday, Diemer finished with a team-high 17 points, 10 rebounds and 1 assist. He averaged 17.5 points on 66.7% shooting, 11 rebounds and 1 assist for the week. The RU men's basketball team will host Concordia University Chicago in the opening round of the NACC Tournament on Wednesday, March 3 at 7 PM in the Seaver Center. If Rockford wins on Wednesday, the Regents will host the NACC South Division Tournament Championship on Saturday, March 6 at 5 PM in the Seaver Center against the winner of Wednesday's game between Benedictine University and Aurora University.

Kevin Diemer was honored with his third consecutive Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference South Division Player of the Week award, the conference announced early Tuesday morning. Diemer is now the first Regent to ever receive a NACC weekly award in three straight weeks. He also becomes only the second Rockford University men's basketball player (Robert Malone, 2010-11) to earn three NACC weekly awards in the same season. Kevin Diemer averaged a double-double again last week as Rockford went 2-0 and moved into a tie for first place in the NACC South Division. Diemer opened with 13 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks and scored the game-winning layup with 13 seconds left in an 83-82 win over Dominican. On Saturday he finished with a team-high 21 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 assist in an 84-78 victory. For the week Diemer averaged 17 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 block. The RU men's basketball team (5-1 NACC) will conclude its regular season schedule this weekend with a two-game series at Benedictine University (5-1 NACC) to determine 2020-21 NACC South Division Regular Season Champion. Friday's matchup has a scheduled start time of 7 PM and Saturday's game will tip-off at 5 PM. If the Regents win one of the two games, they will clinch at least a share of the regular season NACC South Division Title and a home game in the conference tournament.

Micah Swanson Named Regent of the Week
Freshman forward Micah Swanson has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending Sunday, February 21, 2021. Swanson was a force coming off the bench for the Regents this past weekend. He opened with 15 points on 71.4% shooting and had 5 rebounds and 3 steals in an 83-82 win over Dominican. Swanson then poured in 14 points on an incredible 83.3% shooting and grabbed 8 rebounds in Rockford's 84-78 victory on Saturday. For the week he averaged 14.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals.

Nick Phillips Named Regent of the Week
Junior guard Nick Phillips has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending Sunday, January 31, 2021. Phillips posted Rockford University career-highs in multiple categories in last week's game at Loras. He poured in 21 points on seven made three-pointers and shot a blistering 53.8% from beyond the arc. Phillips also added a trio of steals and one assist to his totals.

Kellie Frerichs Named Regent of the Week
Junior Kellie Frerichs has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending Sunday, September 20, 2020. Kellie had her second strong showing in as many meets this season at the Regent Relays. Frerichs and her partner finished in 18th place in the six mile race, with a total time of 42:48. Her efforts helped the Regents finish in seventh place as a team.

Dominick Welte Named Regent of the Week
Freshman Dominick Welte has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending Sunday, September 13, 2020. Dominick burst onto the scene this past weekend with a standout performance at the Carthage Early Bird Virtual Invitational. He finished first amongst all Regent runners with a time of 9:45 in the 3K race. Overall Welte finished 45th against a very talented field featuring some of the top teams and runners in the country, including perennial national championship contender North Central.

Zack Jones Voted NACC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Senior right-handed pitcher Zack Jones added yet another accolade to his decorated career on Tuesday morning when he was named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week. This marks the second time in his career that Jones has been named the conference's pitcher of the week, with the other coming back in March of last season. It is also the second weekly award for Jones this year, after being named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week two weeks ago. Senior Zack Jones made one start and had one relief appearances over Rockford's final two days of the season. Jones threw 10 shutout innings and struck out 10 batters in his final start of the year against the United States Merchant Marine Academy. He then tossed the final inning of the season against Carroll University, where he struck out the last batter of the year, to secure a 7-3 win. For the week, Jones threw 11 innings, striking out 11 and posting a 0.82 earned run average. Zack Jones will once again finish the season at or near the top of the NACC in nearly every major statistical category. Jones led the NACC in both strikeouts (36) and earned run average (0.78) amongst pitchers who threw at least 20 innings this year. He is second in the conference in strikeouts per nine innings (14.09) and starts (3), third in innings pitched (23.0) and tied for fourth in wins (2) and appearances (4).

Mikayla Seay Named Regent of the Week
Senior outfielder and pitcher Mikalya Seay has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 15, 2020. Seay was outstanding both at the plate and inside the circle for Rockford last week. She tallied a hit in all six of Rockford's games, including five multi-hit performances and posted a .545 batting average and a .864 slugging percentage. Three of Seay's best games at the plate came against SUNY Oneonta, Elms and Alfred State. She went 2-for-4 with a triple, a run scored and three runs batted in against the Red Dragons. Seay then went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs batted in and two runs scored in Rockford's 12-3 victory over Elms. She followed that up with a 3-for-4 performance, which included a double and two runs scored in the Regents' 14-0 win against Alfred State. For the week, Seay tallied twelve hits, ten runs scored, eight runs batted in, two doubles, a triple and a home run. Seay also posted a 1-0 record inside the circle in her two appearances this week. She tossed a complete game in her lone start of the week against Elms. Seay went all five innings, allowing no earned runs and striking out four. For the week, Seay pitched eight innings, allowing just one earned run and striking out five with a 0.88 earned run average.

Zack Jones Named Regent of the Week
Senior pitcher Zack Jones has been named Regent of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 8, 2020. Jones moved to 2-0 on the season with another outstanding performance in Rockford's 4-2 win over Bluffton. He struck out a career-high 16 batters and walked none, while allowing just two hits and one earned run over his seven innings of work. Jones had the Bluffton hitters guessing all day long, striking out the final four batters he faced and holding the Beaver hitters to a measly .080 batting average against him during the game.

Brandon Emerick Voted First Team All-NACC
Rockford University junior guard Brandon Emerick was named First Team All-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference on Wednesday afternoon to cap off an excellent season. This is the first postseason award Emerick has earned in his collegiate career, and it marks the fifth straight season Rockford has had at least one First Team All-NACC selection. Brandon Emerick had an incredible junior season and led the Regents to within a single game of making their second straight trip to Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament. Emerick set career-highs in nearly every major statistical category and was amongst the best in both the NACC and NCAA Division III in multiple areas. The Elkhart native led the NACC in both steals (3.2/game) and made three-pointers (3.6/game), while finishing seventh in the conference in assists (3.5/game), ninth three-point field goal percentage (41.1%) and tenth in points (16.0/game). Additionally, Emerick set career-highs in field goal attempts (13.0/game), made field goals (5.6/game) and tied his career high in rebounds (3.0/game). Nationally, Emerick currently ranks in the top 26 amongst all NCAA Division III men's basketball players in five categories. He is fourth in both total steals (79) and steals per game (3.2), 17th in made three-point field goals per game (3.6), 20th in made three-point field goals (90) and 26th in three-point field goal attempts (219). Emerick also had multiple outstanding individual performances throughout the season. He was one of only nine men's basketball players in the conference to be voted NACC Player of the Week. Emerick also made two game-tying shots in the closing seconds of regulation, one of which came as time expired. The Regents went on to win both of those games in overtime.

Zack Jones Named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week
The awards continue to roll in for the Rockford University baseball program this week, as the Regents had a pair of players named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week. Troy Tucci was selected as the designated hitter, while Zack Jones was chosen as a starting pitcher. This marks the first time in school history that Rockford has had two players in the same week named to any D3sports.com Team of the Week. Zack Jones was nearly perfect in his season debut against Central College this past Saturday. Jones picked up the win and did not allow a hit over his five shutout innings of work. He finished the game with nine strikeouts, including striking out five of the first six batters he faced. Troy Tucci had a monster weekend at the plate and was a key piece to Rockford starting the season 4-0. Tucci opened with a 4-for-4 performance that included a home run, a double, three runs scored and two runs batted in. Later in the week, Tucci had a key two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the eighth to jump-start Rockford's 5-4 comeback win over Central College. Tucci then finished his week by going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, two stolen bases, two runs batted in and three runs scored. For the week, Tucci hit .615 with a 1.154 slugging percentage, while tallying eight hits, four doubles, a home run, six runs batted in and two stolen bases. The Rockford University baseball team returns to the diamond on Saturday, March 7 to face Bluffton University. First pitch is set for 10 AM central time in Fort Myers, Florida.
