Zach Wallace Voted NACC Student-Athlete of the Week

2015 Feb 3

Sophomore forward Zach Wallace (Rockford, Ill.) was recognized by the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference for the first time in his collegiate career Monday night when he was named NACC Student-Athlete of the Week. This is the second straight week a member of the men's basketball team has been recognized by the conference for his efforts on the court. Wallace is now the fourth different RU men's basketball player to earn a weekly award from the NACC this season.

Wallace had a monster week for Rockford averaging a double-double with 18.0 points and 10.3 rebounds while shooting 53 percent from the field and blocking 2.7 shots per game. His best performance came in the Regents' upset win over NACC leading Aurora University when he scored 21 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked 5 shots. Wallace fell just one rebound shy against Lakeland of recording a double-double in all three of Rockford's games last week.

Currently Wallace ranks second in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference averaging 7.7 rebounds per game. Wallace has a chance to finish the season as the conference's leading rebounder as he is averaging just 0.1 rebounds less per game than the current NACC leader.

The Rockford University men's basketball team returns to the court on Wednesday, February 4 at Dominican University. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
