Zach Wallace Named NACC Honorable Mention

2016 Mar 4

The Rockford University men's basketball team had four players earn all-conference honors from the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference on Friday morning. Senior guard Michael Murray (Princeton, Ill.) highlights the group with his First Team All-NACC selection. Fellow senior John O'Bryan (Richmond, Ky.) and junior Zach Wallace (Rockford, Ill.) were each named NACC Honorable Mention and freshman Tony Diemer (Rockford, Ill.) was voted to the NACC All-Freshman Team. Rockford's four postseason awards are the most the Regents have received since joining the NACC for the 2006-07 season.

Zach Wallace was named NACC Honorable Mention for the second consecutive year. Wallace was outstanding underneath the basket for the Regents on both ends of the floor as he finished in the top 10 in the NACC in four categories. The junior was seventh in scoring (18.4), second in blocks/game (2.5), fourth in rebounding (8.3) and fourth in field goal percentage (59.7%). Nationally Wallace is ranked 16th in total blocks (63), 17th in blocks/game, 24th in field goal percentage and 86th with 9 double-doubles. Wallace also passed a pair of career milestones this season. Late in the year Wallace became only the fifteenth RU men's basketball player in school history to record 500 career rebounds. He is currently the fourteenth all-time leading rebounder at Rockford University with 514 rebounds. Wallace also broke the RU record for career blocks with 137 thus far in his career.
