Tony Diemer Voted First Team All-NACC

2018 Feb 22

For the second straight year, the RU men's basketball program had a pair of players earn postseason recognition from the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. Junior forward Tony Diemer (Rockford, Ill.) was named First Team All-NACC, while senior Trae Blumhorst (Mendota, Ill.) was voted the NACC Defensive Player of the Year. This marks the third consecutive season Rockford has had at least one first team all-conference selection and the second straight season the Regents have had the conference's defensive player of the year.

Tony Diemer earned his first ever postseason recognition from the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference when he was voted First Team All-NACC by the conference's coaches. Diemer had yet another phenomenal year offensively as he finished in the top-5 in scoring in the conference for the second straight season. The Rockford native ranked fifth in the NACC averaging 18.0 points per game on 48.0% shooting from the floor and 47.2% shooting from three-point range. Diemer's offensive prowess was on display each and every game, as he became just the fourth Regent to score 40 points in a single game over the last ten years. Diemer also hit a career milestone this season as he scored his 1,000th career point and currently sits as Rockford's twelfth all-time leading scorer with 1,187 points. In addition to his outstanding scoring ability, Diemer continued to do a great job rebounding the basketball and getting his teammates involved, averaging 6.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. Heading into next season, Diemer has multiple milestones within reach. He needs 313 points to become only the ninth player to score 1,500 career points, and he needs just 2 rebounds to become the 16th player in program history to record 500 career rebounds. If he achieves both feats, Diemer will join an elite group of only eight Regents with 1,500 points and 500 rebounds.
