Michael Watson Named NACC Defensive Player of the Week

For the second consecutive week the Rockford University football team had a pair of student-athletes earn Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Player of the Week honors. Sophomore wide receiver Mar Sean Vercher (Chicago, Ill.) became the second Regent in as many weeks to be named the conference's offensive player of the week, while Michael Watson (Schaumburg, Ill.) earned Rockford's first NACC Defensive Player of Week award this year. Through two weeks the Regents have had four of the conference's five players of the week in football.

Michael Watson was the leading tackler last Saturday for the Regents. He tallied a career-high 15 tackles including 1 tackle for loss. After two weeks Watson currently leads the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference with 21 total tackles.

The Rockford University football team returns to the field on Saturday, September 19 at Alma College. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m. Central Time.
