Michael Murray Voted First Team All-NACC

2016 Mar 4

The Rockford University men's basketball team had four players earn all-conference honors from the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference on Friday morning. Senior guard Michael Murray (Princeton, Ill.) highlights the group with his First Team All-NACC selection. Fellow senior John O'Bryan (Richmond, Ky.) and junior Zach Wallace (Rockford, Ill.) were each named NACC Honorable Mention and freshman Tony Diemer (Rockford, Ill.) was voted to the NACC All-Freshman Team. Rockford's four postseason awards are the most the Regents have received since joining the NACC for the 2006-07 season.

Michael Murray earned First Team All-Conference honors in his first full season as a Regent. Murray had one of the best seasons of any Regent in recent memory as he was one of only two players in the NACC to average a double-double and the only player to average at least 20 points and 10 rebounds. He finished the year in the top 10 in the NACC in seven categories including third in scoring (20.9), third in rebounding (10.1), third in blocks/game (1.8), sixth in field goal percentage (59.1%), sixth in three-point field goal percentage (43.5%), eighth in steals/game (1.4) and he led the conference in minutes/game (35.5). Murray was also recognized during the season by the conference for his outstanding play as he was twice named NACC Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week. His accolades however were not just limited to the conference level as Murray also drew national attention. The Princeton native was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week back in early January, and he is also currently ranked in the top fifty in five categories amongst all NCAA Division III men's basketball players. Murray is 30th in field goal percentage, 39th with 12 double-doubles, 40th in rebounds/game, 44th in scoring and 50th in blocks/game.
