Michael Murray Named First Team All-NACC

2015 May 7

The Rockford University baseball team had four individuals honored by the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference on Thursday morning when it released its all-conference teams. Junior pitcher Michael Murray (Princeton, Ill.) highlighted the group with his First Team All-NACC selection. Fellow junior Cole Logemann (Lena, Ill.) along with senior Brian Wiest (Lake Zurich, Ill.) both earned Second Team All-NACC honors while freshman Adam O'Malley (Elk Grove, Ill.) earned a spot on the NACC All-Freshman Team. Rockford's four all-conference award recipients is the most for the Regents since the 2010 season when it had five All-NACC performers.

Michael Murray's first team selection caps off an excellent season on the mound for the right-hander. Murray made huge strides from last season as he took on the role of being the ace in the Rockford rotation. He finished the season at or near the top of the conference in nearly every major pitching category. The junior tied for the NACC lead in wins (6), was second in earned run average (2.10), third in strikeouts (45), tied for third in starts (9) and finished tied for seventh in innings pitched (60.0). He also finished the season with the sixth best WHIP (1.25) among pitchers who threw at least 50 innings. Murray proved his dominance on the mound throughout the year as at the conclusion of the regular season, he was one of only two pitchers in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference to be voted the conference's pitcher of the week multiple times.
