Michael Murray Earns his Second NACC Weekly Award of the Season

Junior pitcher Michael Murray (Princeton, Ill.) was voted the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday for the second time this season. Murray becomes only the second baseball player in the conference to earn multiple NACC weekly awards this season as well as the first Regent to earn multiple NACC weekly awards in any sport this year.

Murray had yet another outstanding effort on the mound for Rockford last week. The junior right-hander began his week by tossing his second complete game and first complete game shutout of the year. He threw 9 strong innings scattering 7 hits while striking out 3 batters to pick up the win and improve his record to 4-0. Murray then capped off his week by pitching a perfect inning in relief against Concordia Chicago.

Currently Murray is ranked in the top six both nationally and in the NACC in multiple statistical categories. Following his efforts last week, he ranks sixth in Division III with a 0.31 earned run average. Murray now leads the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference in both ERA and wins (5). He is also ranked third in the conference in strikeouts (31) and fourth in both complete games (2) and innings pitched (37.0).

The Rockford University baseball team returns to the diamond on Saturday, April 11 at Concordia University Wisconsin. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for noon.
