Kaleb Rich Named NACC Men's Golfer of the Week

2014 Sep 23

Late Monday night, Rockford senior Kaleb Rich (Washington, Iowa/Washington) was named NACC Men's Golf Student-Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Marian Fall Invite. Rich becomes only the second Regent golfer ever to earn a weekly award from the NACC and the first since 2008.

Rich won his first collegiate tournament last week at the Marian Fall Invite with the two lowest rounds of the weekend. He opened with a 2-under-par 70 on Sunday and wrapped up the invite with a 3-over-par 75 to finish +1. The senior dominated the invitational finishing 7 shots ahead of the second place individual. His score of 70 on Sunday is the lowest round of any Regent so far this year while his score of 75 on Monday is tied for second lowest. The senior has now recorded back-to-back top five finishes for the first time in his collegiate career. Rich also becomes the first Regent to win a golf tournament since Sept. 13th, 2008 when Andrew Insko won the Edgewood College Fall Classic.

The Rockford University golf team returns to competition on Sunday, September 21st at the Benedictine Men's Fall Invite. The one-day invitational will take place in West Chicago, Ill. at St. Andrew's Golf Club.
