2014 May 2

The second induction ceremony of Sigma Beta Delta Honor Society took place at Rockford University Friday, April 25. The honor society acknowledges outstanding academic achievements made by undergraduate and graduate business majors.

Sigma Beta Delta membership is the highest national recognition that business students can receive at a college or university. Eligibility for membership includes being in the upper 20 percent of junior, senior or master's level class, as well as an invitation by a faculty member. The honor society has a 200 year history dating back to the founding of Phi Beta Kappa in 1776 in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Inductees receive several benefits from joining Sigma Beta Delta. Among these benefits are lifetime recognition of outstanding academic achievements, lifetime contact through the Aspirations newsletter, as well as networking opportunities with current members, including Rockford University's very own President, Robert Head, Ph.D., who is a member of the society.

Rockford University Alumnus, Sunil Puri '82, was inducted as an honorary member of the society. Puri is currently the President of First Rockford Group, one of the Rockford area's largest land developers. He was honored for his many contributions to both Rockford University and the Rockford community.

The group of inductees from the University include: Aimee Carlo, Cynthia Leet, Debra Corbett, Brian Hulsebus, Justin Erickson, Lauren Kepler, Jason Gourley, Xutong Wu, Ana Kuljanin, Daniela Medrano, Kevin Ramirez, Sarah Nicholson and Victoria Carlson.
