Welsh Elementary teacher to receive special state recognition for Outstanding Beginning Teacher Award
Rockford University alumna, Whitney Reed '17 who was an Elementary Education major, has been selected to receive the Illinois Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (IACTE) Outstanding Beginning Teacher Award.

Rockford University alumna, Whitney Reed '17 who was an Elementary Education major, has been selected to receive the Illinois Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (IACTE) Outstanding Beginning Teacher Award. She was nominated by the Rockford University Education Department. Whitney was selected to receive this letter and award for her many accomplishments in addition to her dedication to students and the profession.
Principal Hand of Welsh Elementary School will be presenting the letter announcing her award and official invite to attend to IACTE/ IATEPC Spring Joint Conference and Award Ceremony on Tuesday, April 9 in Springfield, Ill. Media are invited to attend the presentation on Thursday, March 21 at 8:30 AM at Welsh Elementary School, located at 2100 Huffman Blvd. Rockford, Ill. The IACTE will also be notifying state legislators of the award she will be receiving and are inviting them to attend the reception. Their attendance will provide Whitney with the opportunity to speak more in depth about the legislative system and how it applies to the teaching profession.
