CNN Criminologist and forensic psychologist Dr. Casey Jordan to explore the complex world of chaos

Rockford, IL (10/30/2019) — "The Anomic Bomb: Mass Murder in a Mad World" will be presented by Casey Jordan, Ph.D., criminologist, forensic psychologist, and professor on Monday, November 4, 7 p.m. as part of the University's fall Forum series.
Dr. Jordan has taught and studied the nature of crime and violence for more than 30 years and has interviewed more than 100 inmates and criminals to collect data on casual factors for their crimes, with the end goal of using this data to solve and prevent future crimes. She is currently the professor of Division of Justice & Law Administration at Western Connecticut State University. In addition to teaching, she has also served on the defense teams of many high-profile murder cases and has served as the CNN Criminologist in covering unfolding spree-and mass-murder events such as the DC snipers and the Las Vegas massacre.
More than a century ago the great sociologist Emile Durkheim coined the phrase "ANOMIE" in an attempt to describe the complex world of chaos experienced by people who committed suicide. Dr. Jordan will provide insight into anomic mass murder, differentiating between terrorism, workplace violence, and family annihilations, and end with a brainstorming session for what we can do -if anything-to identify the anomic Bomb. In this presentation, case studies of anomic bombs will be explored, in addition to a brainstorming session for what can be done, if anything, to identify the anomic Bomb before they explode.
With the exception of Performing Arts events, the Forum Series is free of charge. This event will take place in Maddox Theatre, Clark Arts Center located on the Rockford University campus, 5050 East State Street, Rockford.
